UP	This fireman's side view of 1226 shows the unusual cooling coil arrangement installed on the exterior of the boiler sheeting. The Norfolk & Western was well known for it's engineering experimentation, this arrangement led to the installation of the Westinghouse aftercooler on the pilot of several class A locomotives, examples of which are shown in our prototype photo collection presented here.
