Tooling for the GG-1 Body Shell 

One of the unique features of our GG-1 is that the body shell was created in one piece using press tooling.  This has generated an awful lot of interest particularly with people knowledgeable about this type of process.  Presented here is the basic tooling utilized for our model.  The three basic pieces weigh in at 138 pounds of solid steel.

Above is the 'male' portion of the tooling which mates with the female base shown below.

Shown here are the three basic press components: the male, female and base locator plate.

Here are the male and female dies with their mating surfaces aligned.  All three parts were 'cut' from solid steel and precision machined with the use of CAD (computer aided design) model.
