Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 Project Design Note 

The most misunderstood or overlooked aspect of the body shell design are the contours highlighted by the colored lines in the image above.  There are two radii at this point, an outer (blue) and an inner (red).  The inner radius forms an angular highlight that is not noticed by most unless it is reflecting direct light.  This contour is the natural result of the convergence of several compound surfaces.  If you compare the same area in the lower prototype image, you will see the same contours present.
