The production sample used for this series of photos is a 'late' variation version #2. Although the prototype locomotive incorporated many of the late modifications typically associated with 'late' in-service prototypes, it also maintained some of it's early configuration which made this variant unique among it's stablemates. The unique detail differences will be highlighted in the subsequent photos in this series.
